Red Oak Tree Leaves. Northern red oak is native to the midwest and is one of the faster growing oaks for the home landscape. White oak acorns mature quicker than the fruits of red oaks.
The leaves are handsome throughout the borne separately on same tree. If the tree still has leaves, then this makes identification much easier. Lobes are uneven in size and length, those along the upper half short and broad. Leaves are variable but usually have a prominent pair of lobes toward the leaf tip.
